Holiness is the most precious gift of God to mankind, and the saints are the testimony of His presence in the world. They are His extension among us. For this reason, every age has its own saints, and our own time is no exception. In our days, the Orthodox Church has inscribed new saints in her Hagiologion, among whom is Saint Ieronymos of Simonos Petras, the new saint of our Monastery.
Our Holy Monastery, responding to requests expressed over many years by numerous faithful who desired to read the life of Saint Ieronymos and to honour him, proceeds with the publication of this new and more complete edition of his Life... The present edition brings to light new aspects of the Saint’s earthly life, unknown until now, drawing upon documents from the Monastery’s historical archives, early testimonies and narratives, as well as the related biography, now out of print, and other sources.
We pray that the reading of the life of this honorable child of the Theotokos—within whose Garden he blossomed and bore fruit—may transmit to all who lovingly immerse themselves in these pages a breath of life and heavenly fragrance, “unto the honor of the Saint and the glory of God, who is glorified in His saints.”
From the foreword of the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petras, Archimandrite Elisaios
