Description

Thyme honey is the most famous category of honey in Greece. It is very popular and expensive, both because of its wonderful taste and smell, and because it cannot be produced in large quantities.

It is considered the King of the Greek honeys and it is definitely one of the best honeys in the world. It is part of the floral honey category, but, really, it is a category in itself due to its intense aroma and flavour characteristics.

It has a pleasant taste, but sometimes, due to the high concentration of fructose, it leaves a slight burning sensation in the mouth. It is usually light blond, amber, or reddish in colour, depending on the flora of the area and the period during which the nectar or honeydew was collected from the bees.

It is considered to have tonic and antiseptic properties, and is recommended for preventing and dealing with infectious, digestive, and respiratory conditions. It is rich in metals, such as copper and iron, while it also contains boron.

It crystallizes in a period of six months to two years.

It comes from regions of Greece renowned for their tradition in beekeeping.
It is produced by dedicated bee-keepers who love their hives and bees.
It is unfiltered and collected at low temperatures, unpasteurized and with no chemical additives, in order to preserve all its nutritional properties.
